When I listen to this mother I can't imagine anyone could watch her talk about her son and his commitment to protecting his family and at the same time justify us going over there to "fight them there so they don't come over here"... Who is more connected to the reality on the ground?

Very heartfelt and sincere. As a father, I imagine my own son in this position and it both frightens and saddens me. Mothers and fathers worldwide love their children and both look to protect them and hope to be protected by them. This leaves me with a sense that ordinary citizens throughout the world have very little control. We move with what our so called leaders advocate and so much suffering results. Our ability to make informed choices is so limited. I don't want this to happen to my sons, so I should also care that it not happen to the sons of other parents. We just don't have much control over the outcomes and in the United States we have so much more control than in most other countries.
