Obama wins the Guam caucuses by just 7 votes

POSTED BY Alexandra Steigrad, 03 May 2008 | PERMALINK

This seems unreal, but Obama carried Guam by only 7 votes. Obama was looking for a big win to bolster his campaign against his opponent, Hillary Clinton, who has won the last 4 primaries, but such a tiny win ain't gonna do it. Even though it seems as though Obama should have won by more-due in part to Guam's proximity to Indonesia, where Obama lived as a child, and because this was a caucus, a...

Hillary tries out island life (by satellite)

POSTED BY Gabriel Red, 03 May 2008 | PERMALINK

If you started digging a hole in the ground when you were a kid, you used to hope that you'd end up in China. Now when you start digging a hole as a presidential candidate, you end up in Guam.

From Jake Tapper at ABC News:

Guam's four Democratic delegates (not to mention its five superdelegates) are up for grabs in Saturday's primary, and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary...

Northwestern University rescinded its offer to award an honorary doctoral degree to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the school's main graduation ceremony next month. The university plans to have alum Jerry Springer give its law school commencement address, however. The yanking of the invite is a first for Northwestern, which issued the following statement. From the Chicago Sun-Times:

GOP tossing out journalists?

POSTED BY Malcolm Ray, 02 May 2008 | PERMALINK

Minnesota's Republican Party seems very camera-shy. Over the past several months Republicans have prevented journalists from recording their candidates at events. The latest incident was rather dramatic as Gavin Sullivan was tossed out of the Republican convention for district 42B for shooting video.

The Uptake shows us Gavin Sullivan's video and talks to another journalist who has been...

Bill O'Reilly's Hillary interview, part II

Here it is, equally as interesting as the first half. It's heavier on policy, and overall, the interview has been getting very good reviews.

Edwards strategist thinks his candidate could have won

POSTED BY Alexandra Steigrad, 01 May 2008 | PERMALINK

Joe Trippi believes his candidate, John Edwards could have forced a brokered convention if he stayed in the race, perhaps even winning the nomination. Is there any validity to this? Did Edwards even have the money to continue? It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if hindsight is even 20-20 in this case.

From the Huffington Post:

Joe Trippi writes about what he wishes he...

Maya Angelou's ad

POSTED BY Alexandra Steigrad, 30 April 2008 | PERMALINK

Below is the latest ad from the Clinton campaign. It features the iconic African-American poet, Maya Angelou, who is endorsing Hillary for president.

The question is, who will this sway? Will African-American women be swayed? It seems like a way for Hillary to reach out to the African-American community, even if they continue to heavily support Obama. Will it work?
