Good analysis re: the Democratic VP candidate from 2000. He won the popular vote, remember. Clearly the dems can't take action soon enough, but it will appropriately wait until the next Congress.
To Sally, I strongly disagree about the comment re: Nancy Pelosi. She had two key goals when she assumed the speaker's role: to move off the fossil fuel standard to establish energy independence and to put in place a serious program to address global warming. These aren't idol tasks and they aren't successfully addressed with words. Leadership involves organizing people that are difficult to organize (like everyone in the US that gets their electricity from coal plants and will face significant energy price increases as change occurs). She is providing tremendous leadership in these areas and others. She is a conciliator and manager and probably does need to get out to directly address people. She has left that to the Presidential candidates, but it doesn't mean that she isn't actively providing important leadership.
Thank you for explaining why Lieberman hasn't been booted out. I was wondering.
He should be stripped of all power. He's "Independent" only because there is no Jewish party. If DC doesn't get a representative, then neither should the nation of Israel.
Speaking of people that should be stripped of power, I want Nancy "Off the Table" Pelosi out of the Speaker's seat in the House. She has offered little to no Leadership that I can recall. The Democrats will need a strong, motivated, organized person to be the speaker if they want to get a fraction of their legislative goals accomplished in the next 4-8 years. Mme Pelosi does NOT fit the bill.
Your Daily Politics Video Blog: Are the Senate Dems finally going to toss Joe Lieberman overboard? We ask the question in today's episode of TPMtv and look at one way grassroots Dems across the country may be able to give the final push that sends him over the edge.

Dems can't excise this festering boil soon enough. Joe blows.
