Democratic Congress Pushed Bush to War, Says Rove
Rove on the McClellen book and Plame-gate.
He says it at about 45 minutes into the interview. Karl Rove tells Charlie Rose, “This administration was opposed to voting on [the war] in the fall of 2002 . . . .we thought it made it too political.”
It’s breathtaking. I remember it like it was yesterday. The President urging caution, telling the country we must not rush to war without first conducting more inspections, spending more time on coalition-building. But the bloodthirsty Democrat-led Congress, fearful that only war would keep them in power come election time, stridently pushed forward.
And through a glass darkly, the doves became hawks and the lions laid down like lambs. And Rove's book, when it comes out, will be available in the fiction section.
All in all, Rose gets the best guests, but you have to wonder if his super-human tolerance for bullshit has a lot to do with that.
