Second New Hampshire Paper Comes Out Against Romney

POSTED BY kevin brannon, 27 December 2007

Is New Hampshire turning its back on Mitt?

Last week, the Concord Monitor slammed Mitt Romney for his willingness to say anything to win over New Hampshire primary voters, sentiments echoed yesterday by the Union Leader, the Granite State's largest newspaper.  In its endorsement of John McCain, who is running about four points behind Romney in recent polls, the Leader said:
In this primary, the more Mitt Romney speaks, the less believable he becomes. That is why Granite Staters who have listened attentively are now returning to John McCain. They might not agree with McCain on everything, as we don't, but like us, they judge him to be a man of integrity and conviction, a man who won't sell them out, who won't break his promises, and who won't lie to get elected.
I'm not a McCain fan (obviously, kids) but I have long thought that he's the only repub in the field worthy of consideration.   As much as I would love to see one of the unelectables run away with this thing, there is something very comforting about a surge of support for someone who doesn't seem, well, bat-shit crazy.

So, If Huckabee gets a first in Iowa and McCain pulls out New Hampshire we may well get to watch slick Mitt slip slide away.

How can you consider McCain a man of integrity? Just because he was a prisoner of war? What about his bill with Kennedy wanting to give ammnesty to all of the illegal aliens? What about his backsliding and trying to sound more like Dr. Paul? People need to pay more attention to the past actions of these candidates - you don't change the spots on leopards.
