Hillary Pilloried by the Media, Study Shows

POSTED BY Raleigh-Elizabeth Smith, 27 December 2007

Hillary was sabatoged by the media and FOX News actually is fair and balanced, according to the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University. The non-partisan, non-profit research group's latest study focused on network coverage of the presidential candidates in 481 election news shows from the start of October to the middle of December on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. And what they found is not surprising: nearly half of the news stories were about Hillary, and they were largely negative.

On-air evaulations of Hillary were nearly 3 to 2 negative, while Obama received 61% positive coverage. Unfortunately, Hillary was also evaulated more than all of her democratic colleagues combined making that coverage not just negative, but ultimately catastrophic to her campaign. To wit:

"Critics say her best known Senate vote, on Iraq, was driven by politics, not principle."

- Andrea Mitchell, NBC

"She was widely blamed for a health care policy so secretive and complex it died at birth."

- Major Garrett, FOX

While Obama won the media war on the left, Huckabee also sailed to the throne on the right. Sound a little bit like the election field right now?

Most surprising, the study says that FOX News coverage was the most fair and balanced of all the networks. "FOX News Channel's coverage was more balanced toward both parties than the broadcast networks were," the study reports. "On FOX, evaluations of all Democratic candidates combined were split evenly - 51% positive vs. 49% negative, as were all evaluations of GOP candidates - 49% positive vs. 51% negative, producing a perfectly balanced 50-50 split for all candidates of both parties."

That sound you just heard was hell freezing over. But don't worry, if this kind of coverage continues, the Pastor-in-Chief will be here soon to show you the way out.
