Huckabee Takes Money from Stem Cell, Contraception, Gun Control Groups
Mike Huckabee has already let us know that he wants to be a president for all Americans--not just the ones who share his brand of evangelical social conservatism.
And if you are one of the millions of Americans who is gay or believes in gun laws or stem cell research or birth control, the Huckster has a message for you: your money spends just as good as that of the righteous. Don't believe it? Just write him a check.
Here's this from a Politico story filed today by Kenneth P. Vogel:
Mike Huckabee last year accepted $52,000 in speaking fees from a bio-tech giant that wants to research human embryonic stem cells, a non-profit working to expand access to the morning after pill and a group pushing to study whether tightening gun control laws will reduce violence.
Aside: Gun control's been a particularly sore topic in the Huckabee household since the Huckster's son was arrested last April for trying to board a plane at Little Rock National Airport with a loaded glock (click on the link and check out the pic).
Anyway, Huckabee spokesperson Kirsten Fedewa defended her boss saying he “isn’t afraid to speak to people who don’t agree with his message or personal philosophy."
But apparently for the right price he's willing to keep his social and religious views to himself and stick to “limited, focused and nonpolitical” topics such as “preventive health care or similar issues.”
