POLL: Transformed by Iowa and N.H., '08 Kicks Off as a Free-for-All [ABC] Iowa and New Hampshire have transformed the 2008 presidential race into a free-for-all, vaulting John McCain past longtime frontrunner Rudy Giuliani in the Republican contest and fueling a strong challenge to Hillary Clinton by Barack Obama among Democrats.Leaving The Presidency Weaker Than When They Started [FDL] After all the secrecy and paranoia, the unilateral executive power grabs over things as inconsequential as high-level classification of Dick Cheney's spin notes for press manipulation, after every grubbing decision to keep information from the public that we voters had a right to know? Musharraf tells U.S.: Stay out of Pakistan [CNN] Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has made it clear that a U.S. military mission to capture Osama bin Laden or other top al Qaeda leaders on Pakistani soil would be unwelcome and "against the sovereignty of Pakistan." President Musharraf told the Singapore Straits Times that his military has the experience to operate in the mountainous terrain near the Afghan border and if the United States went in they would "regret that day."
Romney Top Choice in Michigan Primary [DFP] Republican primary voters whose greatest concern is the economy could give Bloomfield Hills native Mitt Romney his first major state victory in Tuesday’s Michigan presidential primary, according to the Detroit Free Press-Local 4 Michigan Poll. Romney leads John McCain, 27%-22%, with Mike Huckabee in third at 16%, the poll showed. Romney’s core of support is in metro Detroit, where he has a 2-1 advantage.
