Rudy Lowers Expectations for Florida as McCain Leads in Polls

I knew things were looking bad for Rudy Giuliani when he appeared on This Week with George Stephanopoulos wearing more eye make-up than Liza with a Z. Note to Rudy: The mascara does open up your eyes for the camera, but it also makes you look kind of crazed in a Fellini Satyricon sort of (bad) way.
With Stephanopoulos, Rudy stuck to his usual elliptical reasoning for why he thinks he can still win Florida. He boasted that Sunshine State voters will turn out in droves to vote for him once he proves he can win in Florida by winning Florida. And he’s incredibly upbeat about it!
Just a few short days later, with polls showing him trailing McCain, Romney, or both in Florida, Rudy’s downgraded next week’s primary from a “must-win” to an “important win.”
But after weeks of languishing in early states like New Hampshire, where John McCain rose from the dead, it’s hard to believe Rudy can survive a third place showing in Florida. And with McCain’s turn around on the Bush tax cuts, Rudy doesn't have much to call his own other than that pesky New York City record of his. And I'm not talking about his performance on 9/11.
