"Yes We Can," Obama Supporters Revel in Victory Speech
With 55 percent of the vote, Obama's got it signed, sealed, delivered in South Carolina just like his campaign slogan sings. And tonight at his victory speech, he addressed in elated crowd of supporters and reaffirmed their choice. "The kind of change we seek will not come easy," he told the crowd. "As contentious as this campaign may get, we have to remember that this is a contest for the Democratic nomination and that all of us share an abiding desire to end the disastrous policies of the current administraiton." He went on to attack not only the current administration, but also the other democrats. "Were looking to fundamentally change the status-quo in Washington. It's a status quo that extends beyond any paritcular party, and right now that status-quo is fighting back with everything it's got." The direct digs at Clinton did not stop there - he went on to slander the status quo brought on by proximity to the White House and time in Washington - markers of the other front-runners. "We're not going to let them stand in the way anymore."
He ended the night with the audience chanting, "Yes we can, yes we can. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can seize our future."
