Shorter Freedom's Watch: Let Bush spy or it's 9/11 all over again

POSTED BY michael roston, 31 January 2008

Bradley Blakeman, Freedom's Watch CEO and former top White House aide, uses the death of his nephew on 9/11 to argue in favor of granting telecommunications companies immunity from lawsuits for illegally spying on Americans (from my inbox):

I lost my nephew Senior Court Officer Tommy Jurgens on September 11, 2001. He was a first responder who gave his life saving others. I want to prevent another tragedy from occurring to our country because our government lacks the vital tools necessary to stop the terrorists.

As a 501(c)(4) organization, Freedom's Watch is allowed to lobby Congress.

Good idea. My best friend was killed in a car accident, I want to spy on automakers. They knew there were problems with the car, but decided to deal with lawsuits rather than lose the money from repairing all the cars they already sold. I'd like to prevent another tragedy from occurring because the government lacks the vital tolls necessar to stop the CEO;s from putting profits above humanity.
Give up all our freedoms, this from the party that is so scared of communism.
