Congressman John Lewis Switches Endorsement to Obama
The Associated Press is reporting that civil right leader, Congressman John Lewis of Atlanta, is changing his presidential endorsement and will now be supporting Barack Obama’s bid for the presidency. While Lewis had previously endorsed Hillary Clinton, cited his role as a superdelegate and his duty to represent the will of his congressional district as the catalyst for his change of heart. Lewis said in a statement, “I think the candidacy of Senator Obama represents the beginning of a new movement in American political history that began in the hearts and minds of the people of this nation…. I want to be on the side of the people, on the side of the spirit of history.”
