It's none of your business....

POSTED BY Alexandra Steigrad, 26 March 2008

Stumping for her mother, Chelsea Clinton was asked if her mother's credibility was hurt by the Monica Lewinsky scandal. The 28-year-old former first daughter sounded a little stunned, replying:

"Wow, you're the first person actually that's ever asked me that question in the, I don't know maybe, 70 college campuses I've now been to,'' she paused, "and I do not think that is any of your business."

What do we think of this? It's the first time I've heard anything "personal" from Chelsea. The question seemed more like a way to get a rise out of Chelsea than actually uncover anything insightful. Is credibility really what's at stake when a wife sticks with her husband in such a "family crisis" ? And, how could Chelsea really answer the question? This morning, the ladies of The View seemed perturbed by the question as well. It even prompted Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a.k.a. the show's republican, to call Chelsea and express her solidarity. After telling this story, Hasselbeck received a hug from Whoopi Goldberg, who was touched by Hasselbeck's gesture. The panel then went on to rave about Chelsea, and hoped she would one day come on the show. It was all quite amusing. If I find the clip, I'll post it. In related news, Obama is scheduled to appear on the show this Friday.
