If it's Friday...it must be another loyal Bushie resigning under a legal cloud
The AP reports that Felipe Sixto, who worked since March 1 in the White House as "special assistant to the president for intergovernmental affairs," and has worked in the office itself since last July, has resigned for what it describes as, "
a conflict of interest with the use of U.S. AID funds by his former employer."
His former employer was The Center for a Free Cuba, a DC-based non-profit group that wants to overthrow the Castros and bring democracy to Cuba.
It's funny because Lent has passed, and this Friday, something is smelling fishy to me.
One doesn't want to let one's mind leap too far ahead, but when you start hearing about USAID funds, the White House, and organizations of Cuban expats that want regime change in Havanna, there really are only three words that come to mind: "Bay of Pigs." Given all the upheaval that is going on inside Cuba right now, it's difficult to not imagine that something was up with where that money was going and what it was being used for, and how plausible the subsequent deniability is really going to be.
Mr. Waxman? Are you there? What are you up to this weekend?
