Obama fibs too

POSTED BY Alexandra Steigrad, 31 March 2008

Last week, Clinton got kicked around for her comments on Bosnia. She grossly embellished the danger involved when she visited the country when she was first lady. Now, there are reports that Obama, too, inflated the Kennedys' role in helping his father come to America. Washington Post:

"Contrary to Obama's claims in speeches in January at American University and in Selma last year, the Kennedy family did not provide the funding for a September 1959 airlift of 81 Kenyan students to the United States that included Obama's father. According to historical records and interviews with participants, the Kennedys were first approached for support for the program nearly a year later, in July 1960. The family responded with a $100,000 donation, most of which went to pay for a second airlift in September 1960."

The article also calls Obama out on his assertion at a campaign stop in Alabama that his parents met at a civil rights march in Selma, Ala.--an event that took place 4 years after Obama was born.

We're still seeing the dregs of Bosnia-gate, but we aren't seeing much mention of Obama's misrepresentation on the blogs. Sure, there's a difference between snipers and two smudged family stories, but a lie is a lie.
