Indiana may be a state with the right attitude
...about this farcical, non-stop, never-ending Democratic primary. I think the home of the Hoosiers has kept in mind what's really important: local issues, not the DCification of the entire country.
Check out the Lazy Monday they're officially having over at the Courier-Press of Evansville, IN.
My favorite headline is probably the paper's column entitled, "Announcing the great shot put tournament," in which the writer declares that it is his dream as a shot-putter to reach Earth orbit with a throw. That's the spirit: aim for the stars, not the White House.
And then there's another column, "Rhubarb, lard key ingredients to my restaurant's success." This writer helpfully points out that Obama and Hillary are a lot less important than pie:
Forget Obama. Forget Hillary. Forget God, guns and any of the other laundry list of things Tri-Staters are supposed to be passionate about.
Tri-Staters have passion, extreme passion, but it's for none of those. Their true love is reserved for lard and rhubarb. It exceeds even their affection for brain sandwiches.
But there are some issues that could confront the senators while campaigning, like whether or not they think students on college cdampuses should be allowed to carry guns. In the article headlined, "Students seek gun privileges on campus," a local AP story notes that campuses all over the state have seen pro-guns-on-campuses rallies recently. Maybe those presidential hopefuls ought to add a layer of security to their screening of stump speech attendees when they drop by the IUPUI (that's ee-oo-ee-poo-ee if you're kn the know) student union.
