An early evening?
It looks to be an early evening in terms of declaring the winners and the euthanized horses in this race. And I haven't even opened a beer yet!
If you believe the leaked exit polls, it's a decent lead in Indiana for Hillary and a blow out for Obama in North Carolina. HuffPost says a 5% lead for Hillary in Indiana, a 12% lead for Obama in North Carolina. For Drudge, Hillary's "double dream" is "dashed," with Obama holding taking North Kackalacka. Jim Geraghty at the National Review, who usually has good leaks, jokes that he will be "silencing" a compromised source.
However, Huff is showing one poll with Obama ahead in Indiana by a nose. There could be some surprises this evening, and I wonder if it at least means they'll drag out calling Indiana so they can make some more ad money on the TeeVee.
If the Huff leaks are good, it'll be a good night for James Zogby, whose latest poll showed Obama far ahead of Clinton in N.C., running against polls that showed him in margin of error dangers, prompting my earlier Kackalackalype Now post (West Virginia pun still coming, but will probably involve something about "Country Road."). If Obama shocks us in Indiana, it'll be Zogby with the "double dream."
Update: And we've waived the checkered flag in Indy. Megan Kelly at Fox News is wearing eye glasses cuz I'm sure she's tired. Hillary Clinton "has reason to feel good." But, they're not calling it yet - it's a close race, they say, and MSNBC says it's "too close to call," as does CNN.
