AP makes it a superday for Obama

POSTED BY Gabriel Red, 10 May 2008

Senator Obama has just passed Senator Clinton in the superdelegate race according to a news alert that just went out over the AP wire, with apparently some people in the US Virgin Islands briefly registering their relevance to our national political system.  One island, one vote!

Of course, the newswire of record has been tracking the superdelegate count very closely, putting Obama within 1/2 of Senator Clinton earlier today when  the "Utah Democratic party named Kristi Cumming," a superdelegate, and she is a supporter of Senator Obama.

I can't wait to see the breathless reporting about the decision-making of Jenny Greenleaf of Oregon, a DNC member and uncommitted superdelegate. "Ms. Greenleaf inquired about the cost of a pound of Kona coffee beans this morning.  The beans are from Hawaii, like Senator Obama, and some wondered whether this signaled a move toward Obama's camp.  At the same time, a review of Ms. Greenleaf's credit history by the Associated Press found that she has reservations at a Chicago-style pizzeria this coming Friday, possibly putting her on Senator Clinton's side."

Meanwhile, over at the Drudge-style Hillary Hub, they are making the case for Vice President Obama pretty blatantly today with the blaring headline, "Swing State Dems Say Hillary Strongest Top Of Ticket."  I'm not sure Illinois' junior senator is going to buy that.

Also, Senator Clinton's campaign is ordering you to wish the former first lady a Mother's Day.  Actually, it's a sweet, tear-jerker video from Chelsea about why her Mom is such a great Mom.  I'm sure she is, and Chelsea's a great girl, and I hope Michelle Obama has a nice Mother's Day, too.

Still, I just hope it's over soon.   Wouldn't it be nice if both Senator Clinton and Mrs. Obama could get breakfast in bed without worrying about campaign videos and fundraisers and other shakedowns?
