Yangon Nagris Cyclone: Floods and Famine
Things in Burma aren't getting any better (although news that the RNC's former convention head - a man reportedly hand-picked by John McCain - was the Junta's K Street lobbyist ought to wake up a few sleepy eyes in the District), and the death toll there, as in China, continues to rice. Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish connects us with a blogger there who logically asks, will famine now follow? Monsoon season is around the corner, so now is the time when this agriculurally-dependent nation should be planting its rice for next year's harvest. With everything under water already, though, no planting can be done. An almost automatic effect was the increase in the already sky-rocketing price of rice around the world. But on the ground, erikoo152 has more footage; the sound is wonky in the beginning (keep watching).
