  • False Dichotomy: Experience or Judgment

POSTED BY CHRIS BROUSSARD, APRIL 10 2008 12:56 PM | PERMALINK

Last night, Chris Bowers over at Talk Left asserted that Democrats should not argue over experience and that they should be focusing the campaign on judgment and ideology. He was commenting on an exchange between Obama and Hillary:

Obama on his choice for Vice President: "I think a lot of people assume that might be some kind of military thing to make me look more commander-in-chief-like. Ironically, this is an area -- foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and...

  • Dems split on who should quit

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 26 2008 03:49 PM | PERMALINK

    From the Politico:

A new Rasmussen poll shows that most Dems want the race to go on and are split on which candidate should withdraw, despite Obama’s nearly insurmountable lead in the popular vote and pledged delegates:
Twenty-two percent (22 percent) of Democratic voters nationwide say that Hillary Clinton should drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. However, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that an identical number —22 percent — say that...

  • Clinton camp criticizes Obama camp over photo

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 21 2008 01:59 PM | PERMALINK

The AP reports that the Clinton campaign criticized the Obama camp for "peddling photos" of former President Clinton and Obama's longtime pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The photo shows Bill Clinton and Wright shaking hands at the White House during a prayer breakfast in Sept.1998. The New York Times posted the photo to its Web site on Thursday and said it was provided by the Obama campaign. Now if only they could get a picture of either Bill or Hillary attending Obama's church while Wright was...

  • Hillary Nets Five Delegates

POSTED BY CHRIS BROUSSARD, MARCH 13 2008 01:38 PM | PERMALINK

Final results from the New York primary and Colorado caucus on Super Tuesday yielded five additional delegates to Clinton, according to the AP.  This effectively wipes out Obama's gains in Mississippi.

In Colorado, ten Congressional district delegates were outstanding; three went to Obama and seven went to Clinton.  One New York delegate race was too close to call untl yesterday.

Additionally, Clinton picked up three superdelegates and lost one, Elliot Spitzer.

    New estimated totals...

  • Obama diminishes Clinton’s first lady experience at his own peril

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 11 2008 02:43 PM | PERMALINK

The Obama/Clinton campaign back and forth is getting heated, as the Obama camp released a memo calling into question Hillary Clinton’s experience.

    The memo reads:

"When your entire campaign is based upon a claim of experience, it is important that you have evidence to support that claim. Hillary Clinton’s argument that she has passed 'the Commander- in-Chief test' is simply not supported by her record."

The first half of that sounded a lot like Clinton’s line about how Obama’s candidacy is based...

  • Yes she will!

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 04 2008 11:23 PM | PERMALINK

Coming off of a decisive victory in Ohio, Sen. Hillary Clinton approached the podium in Columbus, Ohio and was met by a roaring crowd, chanting: "Hillary! Hillary!" Clinton made her case, giving her supporters something we've heard a lot about: Hope.

"For anyone who has been counted out but refused to be knocked out…this one is for you." Clinton continued: "You know what they say, as Ohio goes, so goes the nation. This nation is coming back and so is this campaign."

The crowd errupted, in what has become...
