  • No loyalty for old Richardson

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 24 2008 03:46 PM | PERMALINK

When I first learned of Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama, I couldn't help but think two things. 1) Why now? and 2) Wow, Bill Richardson is disloyal. True, Richardson is free to vote for who he wants, but after Bill Clinton catapulted his political career by appointing him Secretary of Energy and U.S. Ambassador to the UN, the endorsement made me think more about Richardson's character, and less about Obama's potential to be president. In the above video, Richardson tries to squirm out...

  • How Clinton can still win

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 24 2008 02:48 PM | PERMALINK

Ever since Iowa, it seems like the media has been calling for Sen. Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race. She’s bounced back several times—even after a winless streak in February, only to carry Texas, Rhode Island and Ohio the following month.

Now that the Jeremiah Wright story seems to be fading, the media is back to counting Clinton out. Clinton’s political death is always a good back-up story for the talking heads to dissect ad nauseam.

But in all seriousness, with the apparent Florida and...

  • Richardson to Endorse Obama

POSTED BY CHRIS BROUSSARD, MARCH 21 2008 03:57 AM | PERMALINK

Just about everyone is reporting that Bill Richardson is announcing his endorsement of Obama at a campaign rally on Oregon on Friday.

Richardson is the Hispanic Governor of New Mexico who dropped out of the Democratic race for the presidential nomination in January. He's be discussed for the Vice President spot on both campaigns and his endorsement has been much sought by both Obama and Hillary. His own campaign was probably most notable for his tongue-in-cheek job interview campaign ads and his...

  • Richardson Out

    POSTED BY RALEIGH-ELIZABETH SMITH, JANUARY 10 2008 12:10 PM | PERMALINK

After finishing fourth in both New Hampshire and Iowa, Bill Richardson is pulling out of the democratic race for president. An announcement is expected at some point today, the AP reports. His campaign never picked up more traction - an inconvenient reality for the Democratic party, which stood to benefit from a New Mexican governor in the contested West.

Richardson had one of the most wide-ranging CVs of any candidate ever to run for the presidency, bringing experience from his time in Congress,...

  • Richardson Still In

    POSTED BY RALEIGH-ELIZABETH SMITH, JANUARY 09 2008 08:16 AM | PERMALINK

As Clinton takes a day of rest in Chappaqua and Barack Obama prepares to greet fans at a Jersey City baptist church, Bill Richardson is figuring out how to move forward. But that's the one thing he knows for sure - he's moving forward.

"We head out West and the fight goes on, and we will continue. We will continue to raise the question of getting all our troops out of Iraq and America becoming a clean-energy nation," Richardson told a crowd of about 100 supporters at his primary watch party in...
