Reviving Bosnia

Bill Clinton was caught on tape mentioning the Bosnia story two times, pointing out how the media "blew the story up." Either the former president is trying to intentionally sabotage his wife's campaign, or he is employing some new political strategy. Could Bill Clinton be that politically out of practice? Stumping for her mother, Chelsea Clinton was asked if her mother's credibility was hurt by the Monica Lewinsky scandal. The 28-year-old former first daughter sounded a little stunned, replying:

"Wow, you're the first person actually that's ever asked me that question in the, I don't know maybe, 70 college campuses I've now been to,'' she paused, "and I do not think that is any of your business."

What do we think of this? It's the first time I've heard anything "personal" from Chelsea. The question...

The AP reports that the Clinton campaign criticized the Obama camp for "peddling photos" of former President Clinton and Obama's longtime pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The photo shows Bill Clinton and Wright shaking hands at the White House during a prayer breakfast in Sept.1998. The New York Times posted the photo to its Web site on Thursday and said it was provided by the Obama campaign. Now if only they could get a picture of either Bill or Hillary attending Obama's church while Wright was...

Today's buzz is about how Hillary Clinton was in the White House when Bill had his initial sexual encounters with Monica Lewinsky. The news comes after Clinton released her first lady schedules. The schedules also shed more light on Clinton's health care work, stance on NAFTA and overall experience. The Monica thing is salacious, and amusing in passing, but among 11,000 pages of schedules, it's pretty depressing that the media is focusing on this, isn't it? Yawn.

Kosovo Declares Independence

That's right: Kosovo has formally declared its independence from Serbia, bringing to an end its awkward association with the country that brutally repressed the Majority-Muslim region ten years ago. The Serbians and Russians have been opposed to the move, calling it a breach of international law and warning it will encourage other separatist movements.

Kosovars have taken to the streets in celebration, waving their new flag, setting off fireworks, and - get this - carrying posters of Bill Clinton...
Bill Apologizes?

Yesterday Bill Clinton speaking to WCSH Channel 6, Portland ME, seemed to admit mistakes in his recent public behavior. Interestingly he says that 'nothing he said was false'- I am not sure I would agree with that: two statements, that Obama has always opposed the Iraq war is a 'fairy tale' and that he and Chelsea witnessed first hand voter intimidation in Nevada, seem pretty unsubstantiated at best.
