Benazir Bhutto had plans to hand over an intelligence document last Thursday after the political rally where she was assassinated. The document allegedly showed Pakistan's intelligence agencies were planning to rig the upcoming elections in favor of Musharraf.

For so long Putin has been pretending his hold on Russian politics is democratic, but now that elections loom a month away, he has given up any attempt at proper presentation.

Russia is slashing by two-thirds the number of international observers in December's parliamentary elections, the country's elections chief said, in a move rights groups warn will severely hamper efforts to ensure the poll is fair. MSNBC

Forget about the presidential race. How are things looking for the GOP in the House and Senate for 2008? Not so good, at least when you add up the number of Republicans retiring and leaving once secure seats open to possible Democratic takeover.
