Christine Quinn, the speaker of New York City Council, has called for gays to be included at next year's St. Patrick's Day parade in New York. Since 1991, the organizers of the parade, the Ancient Order of the Hibernians – sounds like something from the Irish version of the Da Vinci Code, right? – has insisted that St. Patrick's Day in New York be a strictly straight affair.
