    McCain Leaves Fox Speechless

Your Daily Politics Video Blog: If you were awful enough to delight in John McCain's prebuttal speech trainwreck last night, feast your eyes on the Fox News commentators trying to decide if it was just bad or downright terrible.

Read the full text of the speech on TPM Election Central.

Meanwhile, our friends at TPM watched McCain's "prerebuttal" to Obama's speech, and say it's a "frighteningly sad" performance. As Josh Marshall writes:

    ...I'm curious to hear...

Let's End on a High Note!

Your Daily Politics Video Blog: It looks like the curtain may be drawing to a close on the Obama-Clinton drama. But what about Terry McAuliffe, who's raised campaign spinning to something approaching performance art. And I'm not kidding or being facetious about my admiration. When a campaign manager for a major presidential candidate shows up on set wearing a Hawaiian shirt with a bottle of rum as a prop, you know you're in unexplored territory. As we wait for the events of the...

And her comments last week to USA Today concerning the white working-class vote suggest that the question is still up in the air.

  • Dems split on who should quit

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 26 2008 03:49 PM | PERMALINK

    From the Politico:

A new Rasmussen poll shows that most Dems want the race to go on and are split on which candidate should withdraw, despite Obama’s nearly insurmountable lead in the popular vote and pledged delegates:
Twenty-two percent (22 percent) of Democratic voters nationwide say that Hillary Clinton should drop out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. However, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that an identical number —22 percent — say that...

  • Obama diminishes Clinton’s first lady experience at his own peril

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 11 2008 02:43 PM | PERMALINK

The Obama/Clinton campaign back and forth is getting heated, as the Obama camp released a memo calling into question Hillary Clinton’s experience.

    The memo reads:

"When your entire campaign is based upon a claim of experience, it is important that you have evidence to support that claim. Hillary Clinton’s argument that she has passed 'the Commander- in-Chief test' is simply not supported by her record."

The first half of that sounded a lot like Clinton’s line about how Obama’s candidacy is based...

  • Yes she will!

Coming off of a decisive victory in Ohio, Sen. Hillary Clinton approached the podium in Columbus, Ohio and was met by a roaring crowd, chanting: "Hillary! Hillary!" Clinton made her case, giving her supporters something we've heard a lot about: Hope.

"For anyone who has been counted out but refused to be knocked out…this one is for you." Clinton continued: "You know what they say, as Ohio goes, so goes the nation. This nation is coming back and so is this campaign."

The crowd errupted, in what has become...

  • Clinton Takes Ohio

POSTED BY ALEXANDRA STEIGRAD, MARCH 04 2008 10:22 PM | PERMALINK

The major networks just called the race for Sen. Hillary Clinton with a 16 percent margin. Heralded as a must-win and a Democratic bellweather state, she carried Ohio 57% to 41%, despite being outspent 3-1 by Obama. Clinton held her base of core Democratic voters, which is sure to raise questions on Obama's electability with rank and file Democrats. The final voting totals are still being tallied up, and the margin can still shift slightly.
