real American -- that is

Josh -- you're what I'd call a real America. The right doesn't quite grasp that, for same reasons you cite re Rodney King microanalysis. The left has been dissected and polluted so thoroughly by the GOP thinktank strategists that a lot of ordinary Americans have been consciously subverted from seeing anyone other than some Republican, or some "troop", as a real American.

I am such a big believer in zooming out to see things in context, get the big picture. Thanks for doing it with such simple finesse -- and thanks for framing it all within the notion of we're a great nation. Presumably what that remarks upon is the idea of people as the renewable resource who can rejuvenate an America torn asunder by GOP corruption, greed, duplicity, and lawless acts.
