The Scooter Libby commutation: Controversial? Popular? Unusual? Gutsy? We try our hardest to puzzle out the conservative reaction to President Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby's prison sentence, but in the end we just wind up feeling cynical.
Hi Quicktime, I think it refers to why Joe Wilson's wife sent him to Niger- that the story isn't straight, and it was politically motivated. Not sure though- please post if you find what exactly they are referring to.
"Scumbag"? "Liar"?
I know only 3 people post to this blog (so far) -- but hoping someone can answer this question?
Seriously -- what does this refer to? I understand the overall distraction off of Libby's conviction and the minimization of what he did, and that clip compilation really is disgusting, Kristol especially.
But to what are the referring when Joe Scarborough & sidekick portray Wilson as a liar? I saw hardball segment a few days ago where tweety asked WIlson about "liar" and it wasn't stated there either.
I must have missed something -- is this all about the circumstances of how HE specifically was chosen to go to Niger, and his wife's recommendation?
The GOP Rapid Response system is about 500x better and more skilled than the Democrats... who are amazingly slow on the uptake. But those GOP talking points flow like flood waters through the streets of New Orleans. And yes, makes one cyncical -- or moreson.
It's interesting that all those conservatives see this as an act of political courage, and yet Pat Buc. says that Bush was forced into this, and didn't really want to pardon Libby.
